Following on from the success of Murray & Murray’s Flagship studio which opened in Edinburgh late 2014, their showroom network has expanded further with the opening of a new location in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.  Known as the gateway to Royal Deeside, located 18 miles West of the City of Aberdeen, Banchory and the surrounding area, it is home to many of Murray & Murray’s larger scale projects both past and present.

“Our expertise in delivering full turn key projects along with our versatility in creating bespoke cabinetry for every room of the home is what helped us establish a foothold in the area”, says Gillian McCollum, Director.

The back to brick renovation of the 950 square foot retail space located on Banchory’s High Street continues Murray & Murray’s ethos of creating showrooms as real aspirational living spaces, not following the conventional model of ‘multiple displays’.  Choosing to showcase only one kitchen in a single open plan space with surrounding dining, lounge and home office may be unconventional but it perfectly demonstrates the versatility of cabinetry styles and materials within all areas of the home.

The central kitchen, featuring an Aga range cooker and Miele built-in appliances is well equipped to cater for a diary of upcoming cookery demonstrations.  The built-in bench seating incorporated into the stone clad island creates a sociable yet practical dining space for eight people.

The kitchen cabinetry itself combines European Oak and Hand painted finishes with a mixture of Quartzite and Silestone work surfaces with integrated stone sinks.  To compliment this, brushed brass hardware and light fittings serve as both a nod to country life of old whilst perfectly capturing the current trend of industrial style metals.

The European Oak lounge cabinetry with integrated LED rope lighting and Dekton stone surfaces features a Gazco studio fire and 42-inch flat screen TV.  Lounging in front of it could not be more inviting with the large ochre velvet corner sofa and brown leather Barcelona chair to choose from.

The crisp white home office in a minimal shaker style accommodates a pull-out printer station and iPad charging drawer, whilst the bi-folding pocket doors hide away all the paperwork and files from sight when not in use.

The walk-through utility room at the rear of the showroom, fitted out with Murray & Murray’s Off The Peg Cabinetry, leads to a small mud room with bench seating and hidden doors set into the wall paneling.

The small but perfectly formed WC features walls clad in Farrow & Ball’s block printed wallpaper, a grey hand painted vanity with a Carrera marble counter top and Samuel Heath brassware.

Once again, Murray & Murray have chosen only to partner with brands that represent the very best within the Scottish luxury interiors market.  The choice of flooring throughout the showroom therefore could only be from Strathearn Stone & Timber whose passion for exceptional craftsmanship and integrity of raw materials have resulted in many successful collaborations between the two company’s over the years.
