Case Study 2:
Historic Luxury
The Brief:
To produce a series of highly contemporary ‘hidden’ kitchens for the development of 6 luxury apartments within the former Scottish Landcourt Building.
The Solution:
In order to achieve a more simplistic, streamlined look, all built in appliances & prep sinks were located behind tall pocket door systems. The idea being they could sit open when the kitchen is in use but can very quickly be closed over, dramatically changing the appearance of the room. All spray painted tall cabinetry doors were fitted with a push catch system to do away with the need for any visible handles. Similarly all the American
Black Walnut island cabinetry was designed with a finger groove detail, adding to the hand made bespoke look of the furniture whilst maintaining a fuss free handless appearance. The only visible work surfaces were made in concrete, a commonly used material but not what you would expect on a kitchen work surface.
